Mathias Zintler provides legal advice in all areas of intellectual property protection and sales law. His focus encompasses trademarks, competition and design law as well as the areas of technology transfer, biotechnology and patents, including chairing infringement and invalidation actions. In these areas, he represents a number of leading technology companies, particularly in the life-science area, as well as trademark and luxury article producers operating internationally, to which he provides legal advice for product launchings, marketing campaigns and advertising issues.

Prior to the founding of KNPZ Rechtsanwälte, Mr. Zintler worked for many years as an attorney at the law firm of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He studied law at the universities of Hamburg, Lausanne, Panthéon-Sorbonne, and Paris- Assas. As part of a master’s program at King’s College London, in 1999 he earned the title of Master of Laws (LL.M.) in the area of intellectual property, and at the University of Hamburg he completed doctoral work on the patentability of biotechnological inventions. Mr. Zintler rounded out his professional training at UNIDROIT in Rome and the London office of Wilmer Hale, among other institutions.

Mathias Zintler publishes regularly in specialized legal journals, teaches intellectual property law at the International School of Management in Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich, as well as at the Bucerius Law School, and lectures regularly on current legal developments in intellectual property law. Mr. Zintler is an International Delegate of the German delegation to the Licensing Executives Society (LES), an international assembly of experts who address exclusively questions of technology transfer and the exploitation of intellectual property and related rights. In addition, he is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), of the Intellectual Trademark Association (INTA), the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA), of the European Association of Trade Mark Owners (Marques), of the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group (PTMG), and the German-Italian Lawyers Association. Mr. Zintler speaks German, English, French and Italian.
